CHURCHILL at the Rhine River Crossing at Wessel, Germany

After putting the floating Baily Bridge across the Rhine, we heard a rumor that the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Winston Churchill, was going to be down at the river crossing. I was on the other side of the Rhine doing some work and I looked back across the river. Sure enough, there was Winston Churchill with his big black stovepipe hat on, that was his trademark. That is how I knew who it was.
