 I have researched the ambush of Co A at the edge of Bellegarde. I have read battle histories and talked with the people who were there.

 

Every year on the Sunday closest to August 21 the people of the town hold a memorial service at the St. Croix church and march to a monument where a small group of the people who were there at the time and some of their children stand before the monument they have erected to honor the three soldiers.
